Learn Spanish with Press 2 for Español

Washington DC & Online Classes

How It Works

Lessons are 55 minutes long, online, and available to anyone that wants to learn Spanish around the world. I also offer in-person classes to people located in the D.C. area. If you live in D.C., you can choose whether to book your lessons online or in person. Once you book your first class, you will receive an email from me confirming our appointment.

At Press 2, I will craft a lesson for you based on the information you provided in your new student registration. As the lessons progress, I will have a more accurate assessment of your learning style and needs, and I will use that to create effective and meaningful lessons tailored to meet your learning needs and learning style.

When you book a class, you will also have the option to choose the video conference platform of your preference, Skype, Facetime, or Zoom. Lesson components will be created and taught through Google Docs. You will need a Gmail account to access the lessons (if you do not have one, they are easy to set up, and I can help). Each lesson will be sent to your email and shared with you shortly before the session starts. By using a video conference platform and Google Docs, we will interact as effectively as if we were sitting right across from each other at a coffee shop. And don't worry if you are not computer savvy; there is time allocated during our first lesson to help you with any technical difficulties that may arise.

Schedule Your Free 30-Minute Trial Class

I offer a 30-minute free online trial class, where we will meet each other, talk briefly about your goals, and work on a short Spanish practice exercise. There is no commitment; it's an opportunity for you to understand how the lessons work. Trials are always online; please select your video platform preference and have a Gmail account to access Google Docs.

Private Lessons (55 minutes)

Private lessons are available for all levels of Spanish speakers, whether you’re a beginner, intermediate, advanced, or conversational Spanish speaker. We offer one-on-one lessons specially designed to fit your specific goals and objectives and match your learning style.

 Semi-Private Lessons (55 minutes)

This is a great option for those who want to interact with other Spanish students, in a group of four. Students receive close, personal attention while grouped with students at similar levels to stimulate learning through conversation.

Industry-Specific Lessons (55 minutes)

We offer classes for those whose objective is to learn Spanish with a focus on specific industries. It is an excellent tool to learn industry-specific jargon in Spanish and communicate with Spanish-speaking clients in your industry.  This could include learning Spanish with an emphasis on medical verbiage, legal verbiage, politics, and more.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • I recommend not less than once per week. It is important not to leave much time between lessons to keep momentum and have all the concepts fresh in your mind. By being consistent, you will be able to see progress, and that's what we strive =)

I would say that the ideal number of lessons to have is two per week, but once a week is great too.

It is also important to consider not relying solely on the times per week you'll meet with me for class. You won't see much progress if you rely on class

time. I will make recommendations for activities to do within the week that will bolster your learning.

  • You’ll need:

    • A Gmail account for me to send the lesson via Google Docs

    • Skype, FaceTime, or Zoom installed on your computer. I'll use the video conference system of your choice.

    • I might ask you to purchase support materials if I assess the need. The books and other materials are great resources and affordable.

  • Yes. I developed the curriculum in 2016, and I've been using it across all my lessons with great success. However, the curriculum serves only as the foundation since I tailor the lessons according to your specific needs and learning style.

  • You can cancel the lesson at any time, but fees may be applied if you cancel 24 hours or less before the lesson.

Canceling 12 or more hours before the lesson:

    • If you cancel 12 or more hours before the lesson takes place, but you reschedule the lesson, you will be charged half of the lesson's price.

    • If you cancel 12 or more hours before, but you don't reschedule: you will be charged the lesson in full.

    • Canceling less than 12 hours before the lesson: you will be charged in full.

I understand that being charged for a lesson that you didn't have is not fun, but there's a lot of work and dedication put into each of the lessons to make them relevant to you.

I also run a tight schedule, and canceling with short notice will prevent me from teaching other students.

I'll try my best to adapt to your schedule to provide you with opportunities to reschedule. I don't want you to be charged for a lesson that you didn't have, it is not the best use of your money, and it doesn't make my work meaningful...I also want to see you!

  • It depends. I have students that start having conversations in Spanish as early as 4 months into the lessons and others that take a little longer. After years of experience working with students and assessing their progress, I found that progress depends on how much time students put into learning Spanish independently.

You will meet with me one or a few hours per week; you can not rely on learning Spanish quickly by studying only on the times we meet. I will give you strategies and tips to work when we don't see each other for class. The amount of effort and consistency you put into learning Spanish is closely related to the speed at which you will become conversational and fluent in Spanish.

I will give you fun ideas to immerse into Spanish as much as possible, from listening to music to watching amazing movies, and many others.

  • More than likely, if you are visiting my website, you have great reasons to learn Spanish. But, if by any chance you need a few more reasons to learn Spanish, here are a few:

    • Being bilingual in the workplace can open up new opportunities for key assignments and pay raises.

    • With the increase of the Spanish-speaking community in the United States and the expansion of the Latin American markets, some employers might require their employees to speak Spanish.

    • Some of the most beautiful places to travel to are Spanish-speaking countries. Whether you travel to Spain, Argentina, or México, by knowing how to communicate with locals, you'll now experience the country to the fullest!

    • It is fun! We will have so much fun learning it, and you can always impress your friends and family when they hear you say at your favorite tapas restaurant, “Una mesa para cuatro, por favor.”

    • A fantastic world of art, music, and literature will open up to you. You will gain a better appreciation of great songs, movies, and pieces of art by seeing and hearing them in their original language.

    • More romantic opportunities. For you señoritas, you will be able to flirt with cute guys and say, "Qué tal, guapo?." And guys, can say,”Hola Señorita bonita",and who knows, maybe you'll strike a date.

  • I started my teaching profession at an urban city school in Dallas, Texas. In my first year of teaching, I was given the responsibility to teach all subjects assessed for 4th grade in the state of Texas exams, which are reading (English & Spanish), writing (English & Spanish), and Math. In my first year, I was one of the highest scores in the school, with almost 90% of my students passing the exams. In the years that came my students always scored within the top 5% of students in the school district. Within 3 years of teaching, I was recognized as a Master Teacher, an honor that just a few of the most senior teachers had.

After ten years of teaching, I decided that I wanted to pursue my own business combining my love for teaching and for languages, and that's when I started Press 2.

Since then I've been honored to teach so many amazing students. I am so grateful for each and one of them. I teach them Spanish but they also teach me many amazing things about their jobs, industries, experience, and life in general.

I've had students that started lessons with me with zero Spanish knowledge and now they are fluent. It is the greatest satisfaction to have as a teacher.
